Mister Ott returns to Venue 505 Saturday Sep 1st as part of Sydney Fringe 2018.
More info to come soon, but chuck it in your diary. You won’t want to miss as last years gig was killer. It will be exactly the same band as last time, only we will be featuring new material as well as stuff from our first 3 albums, all over two action packed sets.
Here’s a video from last year!
Mister Ott perform at Lazybones for Earshift Music Festival 2018
To celebrate 20 releases, the Earshift Music label will be throwing a party with some of its favourite bands over four nights! Come and get along for some music and partying
The first gig of the year is at Marrickville’s Lazybones Lounge. Super hip and comfortable upstairs bar. There will be two bands on the night and we finish at 10:30 so don’t mess around and get in there early.
Recorded at Bohemian Grove in Sydney on Sep 12, 2012, this was the band’s first performance, and features all covers of Ethiopian music. The band name became Mister Ott some time after the artwork was created for this recording.
The band members for this performance were
Matt Ottignon – tenor sax, flute
Ellen Kirkwood – trumpet
Mick Stuart – guitar
Luke Dubber – keys
Eden Ottignon – bass
Dan Kennedy – drums
Engineer – Mick Stuart (on his portable recording rig)
Mister Ott hits 505 again July 25th!!
After us will be 20th Century Dog: Jazzified Afro and Broke Beat Funk led by Cameron Undy. Will be a fun night. http://www.trybooking.com/FETT
20th Century Dog + Mister Ott
Friday 25 july: Two killer Afro-Funk Jazz bands with a who’s who of local talent
After a sell out show earlier this year ‘The Dog’ are back with there Jazzified Afro and Broke Beat Funk. There studio album ‘Mad Stream’ was described as “Something approaching improvised perfection.” (SMH) Live there is something even more expansive and energetic about this band. This rare blend of odd time danceable grooves and singable melodies is infectious.
We have a massive night planned. Mister Ott will be in extended 8 piece mode with Peter Farrar on sax and Steve Marin on percussion and I’m proud to announce that there will also be four incredible dancers assembled by Fenix Icatu, specialists in dancehall, house, popping etc. We saw Fenix and Miguel last year at 505 and I am very excited to say that Fenix will be back again this time with 3 new dancers in tow.
To kick off the night we have Slowpoke Rodriguez, a band made up of members of the Strides, Watussi and Deep Sea Arcade and featuring trumpeter Ken Allars. If you want to hear what they sound like check their band camp page here
Doors open at 6pm for those who want to have dinner there and get in early for the cocktails! The poster says 7:30pm doors, but they will be open from 6.
